Boutique owners hope to make downtown Bethel a ‘destination’ in opening their next store

BETHEL — Immediately after opening their initial boutique in downtown New Milford fewer than a yr ago, the proprietors of Compass Rose Selection have their eyes set on a central area in Bethel.

Heather Streaman Amaral and Claudia Newmaker will be opening a 2nd retailer on the corner of Greenwood Avenue and P.T. Barnum Sq. on March 26.

The 515-sq.-foot cottage formerly occupied by Saltbox Antiques at 123 Greenwood Ave. was sold past spring, according to land records, and Streaman Amaral said get the job done has been underway to improve the house.
